The Scholarship

What the Tuzos Scholarship covers

College is the hardest thing many of our athletes have done — and for a lot of them, they're the first in the family to do it. The scholarship removes the biggest barrier: cost.

Up to a full year
of Arizona in-state tuition

Awarded to Tuzos Phoenix student-athletes headed to an Arizona college or university — applied straight to what stands between you and your first year.

Award amount is set per scholar based on need and enrollment. Confirm current figures with the scholarship team.

More than a check

Backed on and off the field

The tuition is the headline. But we invest in Tuzos athletes the way Space Break builds — for the long run, not the headline.

Tuition, covered

Up to a full year of Arizona in-state tuition, applied directly to your enrollment. The single biggest cost, off your plate.

Financial

First-gen guidance

FAFSA, deadlines, choosing a school — we help you navigate the parts nobody in your house has done before.

Mentorship

A network that stays

You join a community of Tuzos scholars and a builder that's rooted in Phoenix for the long haul. We don't disappear after year one.

Community

Belief, on the record

Someone betting on you, in writing. The kind of backing that changes how you show up — in the classroom and after it.

The intangible
Who we back

Kids who already do the hard part

Tuzos Phoenix athletes train before school and after it. They compete, they travel, they carry a full course load — and they keep showing up. That's not luck. That's the exact grit college asks for.

The scholarship exists because we've watched these kids earn it. We're just taking one thing — the tuition bill — out of their way.

The partnership

Two Phoenix teams, one mission

Tuzos Phoenix makes elite soccer affordable for families who'd otherwise be priced out. Space Break Construction does the same thing in the backyard — real quality, without the premium.

The Space Break Fund is where those missions meet: taking the "make excellence affordable" idea off the field and pointing it straight at a college education.

Who should apply

If this sounds like you, apply

The Tuzos Scholarship is for student-athletes in the Tuzos Phoenix program who are headed to college with the drive to match. We're less interested in a perfect transcript than in what you've fought for.

You're a Tuzos athlete

An active Tuzos Phoenix player or an alum of the program.

You're college-bound

A graduating senior or current student headed to an Arizona college or university.

You have a plan

A real sense of what's next — a major, a school, or a path you're chasing.

You've got a story

Heart, grit, and a reason worth backing. Setbacks welcome — comebacks preferred.

Final eligibility is being confirmed for this cycle. Don't count yourself out — if you're a Tuzos athlete headed to college, start your application and our scholarship team will follow up with any specifics.
How to apply

Three steps. About 15 minutes.

No essays-on-essays. Tell us who you are and where you're headed — we'll take it from there.

Step One

Tell us about you

The basics — your name, your Tuzos connection, and where you are in school right now.

Step Two

Share your plan & story

Where you're headed, what you want to study, and the story behind it. This is the part that matters most.

Step Three

Submit & we follow up

Hit submit. Our director of scholarships reviews every application personally and reaches out with next steps.

Applications are open now. We review on a rolling basis — there's no single deadline, so the sooner you apply, the sooner we can back you. Don't wait on it.
In their words

Real kids. Real comebacks.

I earned captain as a sophomore, lost it junior year, and earned it back as a senior. Soccer taught me how to come back from a setback. I want to bring that same grit to becoming a neuroradiologist — and make my family's sacrifice mean something.

Questions

Good things to know

How much does the scholarship cover?
Up to a full year of Arizona in-state tuition. The exact award is set per scholar based on need and where you enroll, and is applied directly toward your tuition.
Is there a deadline?
No fixed deadline — applications are reviewed on a rolling basis while the cycle is open. That means there's no reason to wait: the earlier you apply, the earlier we can act on it.
Do I have to be a Tuzos Phoenix player?
The scholarship is built for the Tuzos Phoenix community — active players and program alumni. If you're connected to Tuzos and headed to college in Arizona, you should apply. Final eligibility for this cycle is being confirmed, so if you're unsure, apply anyway and we'll follow up.
What GPA or test scores do I need?
We care more about your effort, your plan, and your story than a perfect transcript. Specific academic criteria for this cycle are still being finalized — don't count yourself out before we've seen your application.

About 15 minutes. It's four short sections: about you, your Tuzos connection, your academics and plans, and your story. No lengthy essays required.
